How to disable HP Printer updates to prevent inkjets not recognising.

HP frequently releases firmware upgrades for printers that use the cartridges which looks like the following three:

Once the firmware has been accepted, it will lock out the Compatible cartridge's smart chip and block printing. Typically when this occurs, users may experience error messages similar to “Cartridge Error: cartridge appears to be missing or damaged” or “Cartridge Problem: the following ink tank can not be recognised”.

To prevent this happening, please disable the auto updates firmware for the printer by the following the below instructions. Unfortunately, if an update has already gone through it may not be possible to get the current batch of compatibles to work. New chip will need to be released to circumvent the firmware update.

Please contact support@inkstation.com.au if your issue persist; our company will be happy to arrange replacements (if a new version is available) or arrange a store credit for any HP compatible cartridges effected by a firmware update if it's within 1-year from the date of invoice

Please note these are general instructions and your printer made have the auto-updates in another section of settings.
